mind's eye

image: sean hennessy

he materialized
before her - a chimera?
a porcelain delight -
utterly flawless of figure
with flowing fluid motion
and a sweet, earthy scent -
superbly bewitching

she squeezed her toes
into the sea-soaked sand,
glistening
with carnal rapture,
her petals
swelled with desire
for this supernal creature

he fondled her psyche
with his own
laying, in her mind's eye,
flashes and fragments -
shards of infinity
folded,
into a din of voices

spinning, sparkling golden filaments
in a whirring cacophony
of colors
that have no description
places that don't exist
an eternal collective
of word and song

a universe, throbbing
in the depths of his
excruciating gaze -
breathtakingly excruciating
searingly exquisite
rapture ...
then ... horror

he spoke not a word
as he drew near,
only, delicately,
pressed a finger
to her eyelids
crushing the surreal gaze
of her mind's eye

silence shimmered in a peaceful hue
with open eyes,
she found herself standing alone
on a beach of fine golden sand
awestruck, she watched
dawn spread her wings
in the eastern sky

ABOUT THIS POEM: an encounter with a supernal creature. like ... an angel, or something.
